What Children Learn
1. Correct Qur’an Recitation (Tajweed)
Children are taught the rules of Tajweed step-by-step, focusing on accurate pronunciation of the Qur’an.
Tajweed is not about beautifying the voice.
It is about reciting the Qur’an as it was revealed.
Students only progress once rules are understood and applied correctly.
2. Reading the Qur’an with Confidence
Once Tajweed rules are mastered, students proceed to reading the Qur’an fluently, applying correct pronunciation consistently as they move through the Qur’an.
3. Understanding and Relevance
As children read the Qur’an, they are taught:
- Simple meanings of verses they recite
- Key lessons and guidance relevant to daily life
- How Islamic teachings apply in a British Muslim context
This helps children connect learning with practice, not just recitation.
4. Islamic Foundations
Alongside Qur’an reading, students also learn:
- The Six Kalimah
- Articles of Faith
- Memorisation of selected Surahs
- Introduction to selected Ahadith
- Core Islamic beliefs and practices every Muslim child should know
This ensures a balanced Islamic upbringing, not fragmented learning.
Our Educational Ethos
Our Qur’an programme is inspired by the scholarly tradition associated with
Bashir-e-Milat Hazrat Khawaja Pir Muhammad Bashir uddin Moazami Nizami Sahib
and the teaching legacy of Qamar-ul-Aloom.
This ethos emphasises:
- Knowledge with humility
- Practice with understanding
- Respect for the Qur’an and those who teach it
